hail

last night i had to drive a car to the park. it was a standard, deisel, and i was driving at night in italy. yikes! when we got there, it started to rain. we stood under a big structure in the park with other people. then it started to hail. BIG hail, and it started to cover the ground, and make huge piles of hail, and freezing puddles started forming. i tried to be responsible, but i was out playing in it in a matter of minutes. it was like i had been waiting for a drought to end for a hundred years. all of us played and sang, and danced and splashed, and ran to the playground. one guy with us was italian...he was mortified that we would run around like chickens (that is what he really said!) then...all of a sudden, he joined us, and he loved it!! yeah! we ran to the playground and went down the slide, and landed in puddles, and rode the merry-go-round until we were sick, and laid in the cold water and pretended to syncronize swim. the boys climbed up into a wooden play castle and pretended they were at war. i felt as if a million pounds had been lifted off my shoulders. we ran until we were so cold and sore that we couldnt run anymore. then we had to either drive home or ride our bikes home in the rain, so we all shivered our way home, and delighted in the fact that we could put on warm clothes, and sleep in the cool breeze.
